Ponderosa Bible Camp offers a peaceful, Christ-centered retreat setting with facilities that currently accommodate groups of up to 130 guests.
Beginning Fall 2026, our campus will expand to include six additional cabins, allowing us to host up to 208 guests total—creating even more space for retreats, conferences, and group gatherings.

Stay Requirements

• Fall, Winter & Spring: Minimum 2-night stay, 25-person minimum

• Summer: Minimum 5-night stay, 75-person minimum

Rates - Starting at $30 per person, per night (25-person minimum)

Since 1976, Ponderosa Bible Camp has served as a trusted, Christ-centered retreat destination. As an affiliate of Children’s Bible Ministries, we are a non-denominational ministry dedicated to reaching children, teens, and families with the Gospel.

Nestled atop Lookout Mountain in Mentone, Alabama, and situated along the scenic Little River, our camp provides a beautiful and serene environment—ideal for spiritual renewal, fellowship, and rest.

Meet Faith Martinez, our dedicated Guest Group Coordinator at Ponderosa Bible Camp! With a lifelong connection to Ponderosa and a passion for ministry, Faith is here to help you plan your group retreat. Having transitioned from a successful medical career to full-time service at Ponderosa, she brings a wealth of experience and a heart for hospitality. If your group needs assistance in Spanish, her husband, Leo, is available to help as well. Together, they are committed to ensuring your retreat is a memorable and impactful experience.

The original Camp Ponderosa was built in the mid-1960s using rustic western cedar lumber by two psychology professors from the University of Alabama.

In 1976, Miss Bess Robertson discovered the property for sale, and CBM Ministries of North Alabama purchased the 80-acre camp. At the time, it included six cabins, a dining hall with a kitchen, two small guest cabins, and a craft room.

Mr. Glenn Miller became the camp’s first director, serving faithfully from 1976 to 1999. 

One of the first campers in 1976, Jeff Nelson, later stepped into the role of director in 1999, continuing the camp’s legacy of ministry.

Jeff Nelson now serves as our Executive Director.
